LTA to study cutting streetside parking spaces for cycling paths

The Land Transport Authority said tenderers can propose removing streetside parking spaces for cycling paths in cases where the roadside space is not wide enough to accommodate a footpath, cycling path and verge. The new cycling paths should have a minimum width of 2.5m for inter-town paths and 2m for others, it noted.

Streetside parking spaces in certain parts of the Tai Seng area could be removed to make space for the construction of cycling paths within the next decade.
Besides possibly removing parking spaces along Joo Seng Road, MacTaggart Road, Kim Chuan Road and Tai Seng Avenue, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will also study the feasibility of removing one lane along stretches of the latter three roads.
