It was clear skies and roads yesterday in the heart of Singapore, as the Civic District and parts of the Central Business District were closed to traffic for the first-ever Car-Free Sunday. Thousands of Singapore residents, including cyclists and rollerbladers, took to the streets and zipped past iconic landmarks such as the Esplanade (at right). Other activities included zumba, yoga, picnics and tennis. The pilot initiative, which will take place every last Sunday of the month till July, is part of a move to turn Singapore into a car-lite nation.
