A wheelchair user had a lucky escape when a taxi crashed into a taxi stand outside a shopping mall and stopped just 2m away from him. Mr Yao Long Xiang, 69, could not react as quickly as other passers-by, who fled as the Mercedes-Benz rammed into a metal barrier outside CityVibe Mall at Clementi. "Seeing the cab rush towards me, I was struck with fear and thought, 'I'm doomed,'" Mr Yao told Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao. There were about five people in the queue in front of him and the impact of the collision crushed the taxi's bonnet. There were no passengers in the taxi and nobody was injured other than the 55-year-old cabby, who was taken to hospital with a suspected arm injury.
