Car rams through wall of house near Serangoon

SINGAPORE - Residents of a two-storey house on the corner of Chuan View near Serangoon were jolted awake before dawn on Saturday by a loud "bang".

A silver Toyota Wish had rammed through a large section of the wall around their front porch, and remained perched there with its front airbags deployed on the driver's side.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call at about 4.50am, and later sent the driver of the car to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He was conscious and did not have many visible injuries, though he complained of pain in his left thumb, said an SCDF spokesman.

The driver, who police said is a 50-year-old man, is believed to have been travelling alone along Lorong Chuan towards Serangoon Gardens.

Police investigations are ongoing.
