SINGAPORE – Train and some bus services operated by SBS Transit will be extended from Oct 3 to 5 in view of the Formula One (F1) night race.

The public transport operator said on Sept 2 that it will extend the operating hours of the North East Line (NEL), Downtown Line (DTL) and Sengkang-Punggol Light Rail Transit (SPLRT) system by about 30 minutes or one hour.

SMRT had on Aug 29 announced that it would

extend its train and some

bus services

for the race. SBS Transit said that services on the NEL, DTL and SPLRT will be extended by about 30 minutes on Oct 3.

On the NEL, the last train to Punggol Coast will depart from HarbourFront station at 12.30am, while the final train in the opposite direction will leave Punggol Coast at midnight. On the DTL, the last train will leave Bukit Panjang station at 12.03am, and the final train from Expo station will depart at 12.04am.

On the SPLRT system, the last train will leave Sengkang station at 1.05am and Punggol station at 1.08am.

Train services will be extended by about one hour on the nights of Oct 4 and 5.

During the three-day period, 19 selected SBS Transit bus services will also run later from their respective bus interchanges. They are services 60A, 63M, 114A, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 232, 238, 261, 269, 291, 292, 293, 315, 325, 410W, 804 and 812.

For instance, the last buses for services 222, 225G, 228 and 229 will leave Bedok bus interchange at 1am on Oct 4 for those attending the F1 race on Oct 3.

The buses will leave the interchange at 1.30am on Oct 5 and 6 for racegoers on Oct 4 and 5, respectively.

SBS Transit added that bus service 195 will operate temporarily from the Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal from Oct 1 to 6, instead of the Marina Centre Bus Terminal, because of road closures in the Marina Centre area.

Service 195 will temporarily make stops at 13 bus stops along Kampong Bahru Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and Spooner Road during this period, but will skip seven bus stops that are on its regular route in Raffles Avenue, North Bridge Road, North Boat Quay, Parliament Place and Raffles Boulevard.
