SINGAPORE -A train fault between Caldecott and Farrer Road MRT stations on the Circle Line has resulted in wait times of up to 20 minutes at affected stations.

SMRT tweeted at 6.23pm that there was additional five minutes travelling time due to a train fault between Farrer Road station and Caldecott station.

By 6.31pm, the fault was cleared and train services resumed, SMRT said. But it added that there will be "additional travelling time" due to the earlier fault.

A passenger on a train at Botanic Gardens said that the train stopped for about 20 minutes.

The passenger told The Straits Times that the train he was on, which was headed to Bishan, did not move for 20 minutes. The train going in the opposite direction resumed service after about 15 minutes.

"Passengers were calm, but some decided to exit the station to catch a cab in case the delay took any longer," he said.

Crowds were gathered at the Bishan MRT platform due to the delay.
