Trailer truck skids, causes congestion on PIE after taking up 3 lanes

SINGAPORE – A 32-year-old male trailer truck driver is assisting the police with investigations after an incident on the PIE caused a traffic snarl for over 1½ hours on April 17.
No one was injured in the incident, said the police, who added that the trailer is believed to have skidded.
In photos of the aftermath of the incident shared on social media, the trailer can be seen taking up all three lanes of the expressway.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) first took to social media platform X to report the incident, which occurred on the PIE towards Changi, before the Tampines Avenue 5 exit, at 10.36am.
Road users were advised to avoid lanes one and two, with congestion stretching to Bedok North Avenue 3.
At 11.14am, the road before Tampines Avenue 5 on the PIE was closed off.
The trailer was cleared by about 12.15pm.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at about 10.55am.
