SINGAPORE – A trailer truck accident in Balestier Road caused a traffic snarl for over two hours from 9am on March 21, after a silo tank the vehicle was carrying became detached.
When The Straits Times arrived on the scene at about 10am, two of the three belts securing the tank onto the trailer bed were seen to have snapped.
One end of the cylindrical tank was lying on the pavement.
The driver of the prime mover, who gave his name only as Mr Thilip, said the accident occurred as he was making a turn at the junction of Kim Keat Road and Balestier Road.
Two of the three lanes in Balestier Road, towards Thomson Road, were closed for about two hours as the Traffic Police managed the jam.
A crane arrived at around 11.15am to remove the trailer truck and tank.
In response to ST queries, the police said no injuries were reported and that a 31-year-old prime mover driver is assisting with investigations.
