SINGAPORE - An annual run organised by Home Team National Servicemen (NSmen) featured a torch relay for the first time on Sunday.
The HomeTeamNS Celebrates Life torch relay involved 20 full-time NSmen and NSmen from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
They ran a 5km route during the event held in Sentosa on Sunday morning.
To mark the 20th edition of REAL Run, we have twenty runners from SCDF and SPF participating in the 5km torch relay together. All the best boys! #REALRun #theultimaterunningexperience

The torch relay serves to honour the 180,000 men in HomeTeamNS for their contributions towards Singapore's safety and security, as HomeTeamNS marks its 10th anniversary, HomeTeamNS said in a statement.
A total of 5,000 participants took part in the run, named the Regular Exercise, Active Lifestyle (Real) Run, which is into its 20th year.

The run consisted of 10km and 5km competitive and recreational run categories on road and sand terrains.
The event was flagged off by guest of honour Masagos Zulkifli, Second Minister for Ministry of Home Affairs and president of HomeTeamNS.

Mr Masagos said: "I am delighted that Real Run, touted as the toughest 10km race in the nation, has been well-received by the runners for the last two decades, and continues to be an event that binds SPF and SCDF forces."
The run was also attended by the Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck and the Commissioner of SCDF Eric Yap Wee Teck.
