Toggle promises rebate after streaming glitch

Mediacorp said yesterday that a bug in the software of a piece of equipment caused a glitch in its entertainment service Toggle during the World Cup match between Sweden and Switzerland on Tuesday night.

In a statement to The Straits Times, a Mediacorp spokesman said: "We have isolated the problem and taken appropriate measures to prevent recurrence."

About an hour into the round of 16 match, which started at 10pm, the stream from the Mediacorp service froze.

As a result, football fans missed the winning goal that was scored in the 66th minute.

In a Facebook post, Toggle apologised to its customers, and said the glitch was fixed before midnight.

"By then, the game was over and customers were disappointed. We fell short of the standards we set for ourselves and of our commitments to our customers," it said.

Toggle will take $10 off the subscription charge for active World Cup pass holders and inform subscribers about the process for the rebate via e-mail.
