SINGAPORE - Tingkat delivery company Kim’s Catering has been suspended for four weeks after its premises were found to be infested with pests on two occasions.
The caterer had accumulated 12 demerit points, six for each occasion, in a year, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Oct 1.
Its shop, located in Kaki Bukit, has been suspended from Oct 1 to 28, and the caterer has been fined $800.
In response to queries, an SFA spokesperson said the infestations involved rodents and cockroaches.
Kim’s Catering has a 4.6-star rating on catering portal FoodLine, and about 2,000 reviews.
A licensee which accumulates 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may have its licence suspended for either two or four weeks, or cancelled, said SFA.
All food handlers and food hygiene officers, if any, working in the suspended premises must re-attend and pass relevant food safety courses before they can resume work.
“SFA takes a serious view of these offences and would like to remind food business operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices at all times,” the agency said. Licensees should also engage only registered food handlers and ensure the upkeep and maintenance of its premises.
The public should refrain from patronising establishments with poor food safety practices and report them to the SFA via its feedback form.
