SINGAPORE - Each Singaporean household will receive a card in the mail by Nov 9 for the collection of complimentary SG50 notes folders, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said on Friday (Oct 30).

Singaporeans can present this card at any community centre or community club to get the folders from Nov 11 to 30, between 2pm and 9.30pm. The collection period includes weekends.

Those who have the current folders - which contained a typographical error in the first President Yusof Ishak's name - and wish to exchange them for new ones, can also do so at community centres or clubs during this period.

Banks will begin to issue the new notes folders to Singaporeans from Nov 16. Only Singaporeans can get the folders, and a maximum of two folders are allowed per transaction.

The MAS appealed to the public to refrain from queuing repeatedly to get more than the stipulated two folders.

Banks will cease to issue the current notes folders on Nov 2, but members of the public can continue to exchange for the SG50 commemorative notes from Nov 2 to 16.

The limit of five sets (each set comprising a $50 note and five $10 notes) per transaction still applies.
