SINGAPORE - A Singaporean motorcyclist died after he allegedly crashed and was run over by another motorcyclist on the Causeway near Malaysia’s Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex on Sept 18.

In a phone call with The Straits Times, a Malaysian investigating officer confirmed that the incident happened at around 1.40pm, when the 52-year-old was heading towards Johor Bahru.

Malay-language daily Berita Harian identified the victim as Mr Mohd Razim Jamil.

He allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a roadside barrier, according to reports by Malaysian media outlets.

Another motorcyclist riding behind him was unable to stop in time, and reportedly ran over him.

Johor Bahru (South) police chief Raub Selamat said the man died at the scene of the accident, according to New Straits Times.

Mr Mohd Razim Jamil worked as an operations assistant at a restaurant chain. He leaves a wife and three children aged between 10 and 18.

His wife, Ms Maslinda Maideen, 49, said he was on his way to Johor Bahru to meet a friend when the accident happened.

Ms Maslinda said she rushed to Johor Bahru after receiving the bad news.

“I regret not being able to look at his face for the last time because he left the house while I was busy,” she said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
