SINGAPORE – Singapore has strongly condemned the April 22 terrorist attack
“We stand with India in the fight against terrorism,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement on April 23.
The attack took place in the Baisaran valley in the Pahalgam area of the scenic Himalayan federal territory.
It was the worst attack on civilians in India since the 2008 Mumbai shootings, and shattered the relative calm in Kashmir, where tourism has boomed as an anti-India insurgency has waned in recent years.
The dead included 25 Indians and one Nepalese national, the police said.
“As of now, we have no information that any Singaporeans were among the casualties,” the MFA said.
It added that Singapore’s High Commission in New Delhi “is monitoring the situation closely”.
