SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be relocating its corporate headquarters to a newly established hub at its SIA Training Centre (STC) in Upper Changi Road East.

In an e-mail to employees on July 1, the airline said this hub will encompass a new building and include two existing buildings on the site – TechSQ and the STC building.

An artist’s impression of the new building was included in the e-mail, which was seen by The Straits Times.

The planned move, which will be carried out over several years, confirmed long-running speculation that the company would relocate its existing headquarters from Airline House.

Its staff have long complained about the inaccessibility of SIA’s factory-like headquarters at 25 Airline Road, near Changi Airport’s runways.

The new hub is about a 10-minute walk from Upper Changi MRT station.

Asked why the airline is relocating its corporate headquarters and if feedback from employees about the inaccessibility was a factor, an SIA spokesperson said: “SIA regularly gets feedback from staff about their work environment and benefits, and is committed to enhancing them where possible.”

From the second half of 2025, the teams currently located at TechSQ and some staff at Airline House will move to a separate office space that SIA has leased at One@Changi City, according to the e-mail from SIA.

“The other divisions that are based in Airline House except for engineering, whose job requires easy and regular access to the aircraft and hangars, will relocate to the new corporate hub from around 2026,” the e-mail added.

ST understands that the announcement was generally well-received by staff at Airline House, which has been the carrier’s corporate headquarters since it opened in 1983.

The SIA spokesperson said the airline is committed to making the transition as smooth as possible for all staff.

The airline did not address queries about how many employees will be affected by the relocation, how many will be housed at the new hub, or what features and facilities the new building would have.

It also did not say what would happen to Airline House after employees begin moving to the new corporate hub.

Asked about the estimated cost of the new hub, the spokesperson said SIA was unable to reveal any financially sensitive details.

One SIA employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media, said: “We had been informed of plans to relocate about a year ago, but it was not official. The management said the location was the main reason for the move after getting feedback from employees that it’s too far for them to get to work.”

He added that he does not mind working at Airline House as he lives in the east and has a direct bus there.

Another SIA employee, who also wanted to remain anonymous, said: “This is great news, making our office a lot more accessible, and the commute shorter and more convenient with the public transport options. I am happy that the company has listened to our feedback, and I am looking forward to the move.”
