SINGAPORE - Police are investigating several accidents between cars and motorcycles that have made the rounds on social media in recent days.

In each of the three accidents, a motorcyclist was taken to hospital and a car driver is now assisting the police with investigations.

The latest of these accidents occurred along the BKE towards Woodlands Checkpoint at about 4pm on April 5.

In a video uploaded onto Facebook page SG Road Vigilante, cars are seen bumper to bumper on the extreme right and extreme left lanes of the three-lane road.

A white car from the rightmost lane then emerges from the queue and appears to head towards the left-most lane.

As it crosses the middle lane, a motorcycle riding on that lane collides with the car. The video has amassed more than 270 comments and 190 shares.

A 45-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and a 38-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations, said the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force in response to queries on April 6.

In a separate accident earlier in the day, a car that is travelling on the left-most lane of the four-lane CTE is seen switching lanes.

It then collides into a motorcycle being ridden on the second lane from the right and sends the biker tumbling into the next lane, showed a video, which has more than 260 comments and 150 shares, on the same Facebook page.

The hit-and-run accident between a sport utility vehicle and a motorcycle occurred at the junction of Hill Street at Stamford Road on April 3.

The 35-year-old motorcyclist was later taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital conscious, said the police and SCDF, while a 60-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.

On April 3, a sport utility vehicle is seen making a U-turn at the junction of Hill Street and Stamford Road at about 6pm in a video of the accident uploaded onto Facebook. The post garnered about 250 comments and 200 shares.

At the same time, a motorcyclist is seen crossing the junction in the middle of the three-lane road, but he falls on his left as he attempts to avoid colliding into the car. His bike slides into the path of the car, which does not stop after the collision.

In response to queries, the police and SCDF said they were alerted to a hit-and-run accident and that the 28-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in a conscious state.

A 28-year-old male car driver is assisting in investigations, they added.

According to statistics by the Traffic Police, in the first half of 2024, more than half of the traffic accidents involved motorcyclists and their pillion riders.

There were 1,902 accidents involving motorcyclists, an increase from 1,751 in the first half of 2022.
