SINGAPORE - Customers who want to return their online purchases can now do so at more than 160 Cheers convenience store outlets here.

E-commerce retailers can also ship their products at these stores, many of which are open round the clock.

Singapore Post announced on Sept 5 in a statement that it has expanded POPStop, a drop-off service for e-commerce shipping and returns, to all manned Cheers outlets.

This means customers can send or return parcels at any manned Cheers store under POPStop, as long as the outlet is open.

POPStop service counters also allow customers to buy basic shipping supplies such as SingPost’s smartpac packaging, which includes local postage and tracking, and pre-paid postage labels.

One customer, Ms Jolie Wong, 43, who sells items such as dehumidifiers and odour control products on TikTok Shop, welcomed the convenience of the one-stop service.

“With Cheers stores conveniently located in my neighbourhood, it gives me greater flexibility and makes running my business hassle-free, especially with their extended hours,” she said.

SingPost has also

partnered global transport company FedEx

to increase the number of parcel acceptance points from six to 43, as announced on May 19.

This partnership means customers can drop off their FedEx parcels at all SingPost post office POPStop counters, as well as POPStop@Tampines MRT.

These moves come on the back of SingPost’s announcement in September 2024 that it had

closed 12 post offices,

or one in five branches, in the past two years.

It was struggling with declining mail volumes as most people turn to electronic communication instead.

A SingPost spokesperson had said then that to ensure postal services remain cost-effective and relevant, the national postal service provider would be expanding its POPStop service to heartland stores equipped to receive parcels on its behalf.
