SINGAPORE - A 37-year-old pedestrian who was trapped under a van was rescued by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers just after midnight on Friday (June 15).

The police told The Straits Times that they were alerted to an accident involving a van and two pedestrians at the junction of Gopeng Street and Tanjong Pagar Road at 12.20am.

SCDF said that officers freed a woman who was trapped using hydraulic rescue tools.

She was taken to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), which was alerted to be on standby to receive her. This is typically done in more serious cases.

Police said that another 54-year-old woman was taken to SGH. Both women were conscious.

Photos shared in a road traffic chat group on Telegram on Friday morning show SCDF officers huddled next to van in a bid to extricate the woman.

Another photo showed an SCDF ambulance stationed in Gopeng Street.

Police investigations are ongoing.
