SAF to conduct military and live firing exercises from Feb 15 to 22

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be conducting military exercises in several areas from 8am on Monday (Feb 15) to 8am on Feb 22.

The areas are Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang and Mandai.

Blanks and thunderflashes will be used, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said in a statement. The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep clear of these areas.

Separately, Mindef said the SAF will hold live firing exercises in the Pasir Laba (Safti) Live Firing Area from 8am on Monday (Feb 15) to 8am on Feb 22.

Sea vessels and crafts sailing through the Western Johor Straits during this period are advised to keep within the 75m navigable sea lane and not stray into the Live Firing Boundary.

Live ammunition and flares will be used, Mindef said.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep clear of these areas.

Similarly, the Republic of Singapore Air Force will be conducting live firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang from Monday to Friday (Feb 15 to 19), daily from 7am to 11pm. There will also be an exercise on Feb 20 from 8am to 1pm.

Flares will be released during the night firing.

The public is advised to keep clear of Pulau Pawai, Pulau Senang and Pulau Sudong which lie within the Live Firing Areas, Mindef said.
