SINGAPORE - Commuters at Raffles Place MRT station can now get their daily necessities from five new vending machines installed there.
The machines are stocked with items from RedMart, such as drinks and snacks such as water, kombucha and trail mixes, as well as new product samples such as haircare products from the Monday brand.
RedMart is the first company to be featured at Hive Express, a space at the SMRT-operated station that aims to help merchants with retail innovations such as smart vending machines and self-service checkout stores.
Stellar Lifestyle, a business arm of SMRT Corporation, said in a press statement on Sept 16 that Hive Express expands on an earlier initiative at the Esplanade Xchange,
Stellar Lifestyle’s president Tony Heng said the Hive Express initiative reflects the unit’s “commitment to designing dynamic, future-ready environments that serve both commuters and small businesses alike”.
Customers who buy from the RedMart vending machines must use the Lazada app to pay for their purchases, which are sold at the same prices as on RedMart’s online platform. The new vending machines are located outside the MRT station’s gantries.
Mr Martin Daney, head of RedMart at Lazada Singapore, said: “We want to help busy commuters save time by seamlessly integrating grocery shopping into their daily commute, while providing a wide assortment (of items) with competitive prices.”
