In less than a year, Madam Jamie Chua and her husband managed to raise $1.2 million mostly through crowdfunding for their daughter, Xie Yujia, in the hopes of hitting $2 million to take her to America for operations which will fix her rare birth defect and allow her to eat normally.

More people in Singapore are taking their hopes online, counting on the kindness of strangers through crowdsourcing to get them through difficult times.
