Public Warning System signal to be sounded islandwide on Thursday in annual exercise

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will sound the "important message" signal using the islandwide Public Warning System on Thursday (Sept 15) at 12.05pm.

The sounding exercise will last a minute.

The public is advised not to be alarmed, the SCDF said in statement on Wednesday (Sept 14). When the signal is sounded, the public can tune in to any local radio station for a brief message on the Public Warning System.

The exercise and the radio broadcasts are held annually. They are part of SCDF's efforts to familiarise the public with the Public Warning System signals and to raise awareness on how the public should react when they hear them.
