More than 600 guests and worshippers gathered for an iftar (breaking of fast) function hosted by the Al-Ansar Mosque yesterday evening, tucking into a healthier and more nutritious spread of food. This is in line with this year's Touch of Ramadan Campaign, "Eat Well, Waste Less". The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) said in a statement that mosques islandwide have always and will continue to welcome the broader community - Muslim or otherwise - to join in their iftars. Also at the function were President Tony Tan Keng Yam (second from left), Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim (second from right) and Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin. Mr Zahid Ahmad, chairman of Al-Ansar Mosque (left), and Mr Abdul Razak Maricar, chief executive of Muis (right), were present as well.
