SINGAPORE – Several bus services will be skipping stops on Sept 11 and 12 because of road closures along their usual routes.

SBS Transit bus services 24, 27, 53, 151 and 195 will be affected, the company said in a statement on Sept 10.

Its services 24, 27 and 53 will skip the bus stop on Airport Boulevard after Changi Airport Terminal 2, owing to road closures on Sept 11 from 11am to 4pm.

Tower Transit bus service 858, SMRT bus service 110, as well as Go-Ahead Singapore bus services 34 and 36, will also skip this bus stop during this period.

On Sept 12, service 151 will be diverted to an alternative route and skip eight bus stops along Kent Ridge Crescent because of an event at the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) University Cultural Centre. This will be in effect from the start of bus operations till 8pm.

To facilitate the same event, Tower Transit bus service 96 will skip the NUS Raffles Hall bus stop on Kent Ridge Crescent.

Service 96A will run during the weekday morning peak period and terminate at the bus stop opposite Yusof Ishak House during its operating hours.

This bus stop will be skipped by service 96B during the weekday evening peak. It will take a diverted route back to Clementi bus interchange. Service 96B starts running from the bus stop before Architecture Drive.

From 7.30am to noon on Sept 12, service 195 will skip the bus stop in Parliament Place, in front of the Supreme Court, because of a road closure for an event at Parliament House. 

During the same hours, SMRT bus service 961 will skip the bus stop after Raffles Hotel in Beach Road, and the Supreme Court bus stop in Parliament Place.

Pope Francis will be making his

first papal visit to Singapore from Sept 11 to 13

– the final leg of his 12-day trip which includes visits to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste.

In Singapore, he will

celebrate mass at the National Stadium for some 50,000 Roman Catholics.

The 87-year-old pontiff will also meet Singapore’s leaders, give a state address and hold an inter-religious dialogue with young people.
