SINGAPORE – Jobs and the economy, families, housing and education are on the agenda for Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s first National Day Rally (NDR) on Aug 18.
Singapore has major changes to make in its policies as well as its attitudes and mindsets, he said in a video posted across his social media channels on Aug 16.
This is in pursuit of new ambitions set out in the Forward Singapore road map, he said. The Forward Singapore Report,
He is expected to speak on enhancing social safety nets, including boosting support for families and helping those who face employment issues, having touched on these issues in his National Day message on Aug 8.
Then, PM Wong said inflation was a major concern for Singaporeans, adding that the Government will continue to cushion its impact, especially on lower- and middle-income families.
He added that the long-term approach to managing the cost of living would require fostering innovation and boosting productivity.
Keeping with past practice, PM Wong will start his speech at the Institute of Technical Education College Central at 6.45pm,
The Rally, seen as the most important political speech of the year, will be broadcast on local television channels and radio stations, and will also be live-streamed on PM Wong’s Facebook YouTube pages.
