SINGAPORE – The police are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a boy, Muhammad Hairil Effendi, who was last seen in the vicinity of Block 29 Marine Crescent at around 11.05am on Aug 29.
According to a Facebook post by a member of the community, the boy is 11 years old. The boy was still missing as at 9pm on Aug 30, according to the police.
He was last seen wearing grey shorts without any footwear or shirt on.
His mother, who wished to be known only as Ms Ain, told The Straits Times that Hairil has special needs and mostly does not speak.
His parents realised he was missing at around 11am on Aug 29. Ms Ain said their neighbour’s CCTV footage recorded him leaving their home in Marine Terrace.
Hairil attends the Minds Towner Gardens School, which has been informed, with his teacher helping with the search, Ms Ain said. The school is in the Kembangan area.
Ms Nur Lynda, a neighbour who lives just one unit away, said members of the community had joined the search, extending it to the East Coast Park and East Coast Lagoon areas.
They have also made repeated trips surveying the blocks in the Marine Terrace housing estate, knowing that Hairil loves going up and down the stairways.
Despite battling exhaustion and losing their appetites, his parents have continued with the search with the aid of their extended family and returned to various spots in East Coast Park on the morning of Aug 30.
