SINGAPORE – Pokemon fans can look forward to Singapore-inspired scenes and merchandise when the Pokemon Center Singapore reopens on July 1.
Models of the legendary Pokemon Solgaleo and Pikachu set against a backdrop depicting Singapore’s skyline will greet visitors at the revamped official Pokemon store in Jewel Changi Airport.
With its sun-like mane and features resembling a lion, Solgaleo has been chosen as the symbol for the store in Singapore, which is also known as the Lion City.
The reopening of the store, which has been closed since April 1 for the makeover, marks the completion of the first full-scale renovation of a Pokemon store outside Japan, said Pokemon Singapore.
In a statement on May 29, Pokemon Singapore said the interior design draws inspiration from Singapore’s cultural heritage. Commemorative merchandise released in celebration of the reopening will also feature Singaporean elements.
“All 20 new unique products are specially designed for Pokemon Center Singapore, with the first 12 items going on sale at the grand reopening,” said Pokemon Singapore.
It added that a second wave of products will be launched in August, including a bag charm depicting Pikachu and a cup of kopi.
Merchandise includes plush toys of Solgaleo and Pikachu, keychains, magnets, postcards, metal plates and clear folders.
Pokemon fans will also be able to attend video game and trading card game events at a dedicated event space at the back of the revamped store.
“Strategically located at Jewel Changi Airport, the centre serves not only as a place for local fans, but also a hub for Pokemon fans from around the world to battle, trade and connect,” said Pokemon Singapore.
To manage anticipated demand, from July 1 to 5, admission to the store will be managed through advance reservations and same-day queue entry tickets, which are both free.
Visitors with advance reservations may drop in from 10am to 1pm. Those with same-day queue entry tickets may enter from 1pm.
The tickets will be distributed on-site from 8.30am daily from July 1 to 5 on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mount Faber Leisure Group and Singapore Cable Car announced on May 28 that they will launch nine Pokemon-themed cable car cabins on the Mount Faber Line from Mount Faber Peak to Sentosa from May 30 to Jan 21, 2027.
