SINGAPORE - About 9,000 people showed up at Marina Bay on the first morning of the Jubilee weekend for the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk.

The four-kilometre walk around the bay area was flagged off by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin.

At 9am, the first participants to return from the walk were met by a surprise visitor - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who mingled with the crowd, took selfies with them, and even tried his hand at a little drumming.
