PM Lee Hsien Loong shares thoughtful commentary on Lee Kuan Yew and Henry Kissinger

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday highlighted a commentary piece by former diplomat Robert D. Blackwill.

PM Lee shared the piece on his Facebook page, which has more than 743,000 likes, and his Twitter account, which has 162,000 followers.

PM Lee said that Mr Blackwill knew the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew for many years.

Mr Blackwill used to be US Ambassador to India. He recently co-authored a book on the late Mr Lee with Graham Allison, titled "Lee Kuan Yew: The Grand Master's Insights on China, the United States, and the World".

In the commentary, which was published in The Straits Times on Friday, Mr Blackwill calls the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Singapore's founding prime minister "the two most impressive strategists of the post-World War II era".

The commentary discusses how the two men, having lived under brutal regimes, came to develop a sense of vulnerability to their adult geopolitical analysis.
