PM Lee hands out cash, oranges, chicken essence to Teck Ghee seniors

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong handed out red packets containing cash and supermarket vouchers, bottles of chicken essence and mandarin oranges to senior residents in Ang Mo Kio on Saturday (Feb 10).

Each hongbao, or red packet, contained $150 cash and $50 worth of Sheng Siong vouchers.

Mr Lee, who is MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, gave out the gifts to 480 seniors from Teck Ghee ward at a presentation ceremony at Teck Ghee Primary School.

The recipients are beneficiaries of the ComCare and Teck Ghee Meal Voucher Programmes.

After the ceremony, Mr Lee went for a walkabout at Blk 409 Market and Food Centre to interact with residents and distribute red packets.

Mr Lee turned 66 on Saturday. Some netizens wished him a happy birthday online. Facebook user Bibi Mich wrote: "Happy blessed birthday Mr Lee. May you stay healthy and happy always."
