SINGAPORE - Train services have resumed between the Bishan and Toa Payoh MRT stations on the North-South Line after delays caused by a platform screen door at Braddell station falling onto the north-bound track, said SMRT on April 16.

Free bus services between the two stations have also ceased.

The Straits Times has asked SMRT for more information on what caused the platform screen door to fall onto the track, the maintenance regime for such screen doors, when the affected screen door was last checked, and how it was recovered from the track.

The train operator had earlier advised commuters to add 15 minutes to travel times between the two stations in the direction of Jurong East.

Train services resumed at around 12.30pm, more than an hour after the screen door fell at 11.15am.

When ST arrived at Braddell station at about 12.45pm, several SMRT staff were seen gathered at the train platform.

The door affected was the third one from the back on the north-bound platform.

The affected platform had earlier been cordoned off as a safety precaution.
