SINGAPORE – A pipe leak at the junction of Changi Road and Jalan Kembangan damaged a traffic light and filled the road with water.

National water agency PUB said it was alerted to the incident at 4.11am on Oct 12.

In response to queries from The Straits Times on Oct 15, PUB said it dispatched its service crew to isolate the leak on the day of the incident. Two out of four lanes on Changi Road were closed to accommodate repair works.

Repairs were completed at 8.15pm on Oct 12, with the affected lanes reopened at around 6am on Oct 13, said PUB.

The Straits Times understands that the traffic light was repaired at around 4am on Oct 13.

During the repair works, PUB deployed a water wagon and distributed water bags to nearby residents who had experienced poor water pressure, said the agency.

The cause of the pipe leak is under investigation, said PUB.

“We thank motorists and residents affected by the incident for their patience and understanding,” the agency added.
