As the clock struck 12.30 on Sunday afternoon, a group of Filipino maids gathered outside the gate of Mr Colin Lau's three-room flat in Whampoa broke into a rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

Later, there were squeals and cheers as the 13 maids played games, with some winning $50 cash prizes and designer bags.
