SINGAPORE – As a father of three children, I used to struggle to get them to love reading. It was a long and hardscrabble journey. Many times, I could see that they read out of obligation. Teachers expected them to read. Their dad insisted that they read. And we made it a point to visit the library once a week.
And so they read to please us.
