Pokemon Ga-Ole Station at Suntec City

Fans of Pokemon Ga-Ole can look forward to a new place to play the game.

Evo Amusement is launching its largest Pokemon Ga-Ole Station on Sept 28 at Suntec City level 3.

The space, which will house 12 arcade machines, is the operator’s third after its first at Changi Airport Terminal 3 and second at FairPrice Xtra Parkway Parade.

The game continues to be popular among the young and young at heart since its debut in Singapore in 2021.

Even if Ga-Ole sounds unfamiliar, chances are, you would have seen these machines at a mall near you and heard the action.

Players often pound on the console as they attack and attempt to catch a Pokemon. They also stand to take home a new game disk to add to their collection.

From Sept 28 to Oct 6, there will be giveaways, such as special disks, at the Suntec City station. Each play costs $2.

Local picture-book series Timmy And Tammy is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a reboot.

All 33 titles, with updated illustrations, and three new stories will be released in batches from September.

According to author Ruth Wan-Lau, more than 400,000 books have been sold. The series has set many milestones too.

“I was definitely honoured and humbled when my books were chosen to be given to all Singaporean babies in the SG50 year,” says Wan-Lau, 48, now a publisher at World Scientific Education.

In 2015, her books were also presented to Britain’s Princess Charlotte of Wales by then President Tony Tan, as part of Singapore’s gift to commemorate the royal birth.

All the Timmy And Tammy stories, such as On The MRT and Learning About Road Safety, are based on the experiences of Wan-Lau’s three kids. They are now 19, 17 and 14.

“One of the key themes is that kids enjoy simple outings. A day at the playground can turn into the most fun and enjoyable of outings.”

The illustrations have been redone by the series’ original illustrator Eliz Ong, 45, to reflect the changes in the landmarks featured.

For example, in the revised Timmy And Tammy At The Botanic Gardens book, she incorporated the park’s Learning Forest and Como Adventure Grove, which opened in recent years.

“Rebooting this series has given me renewed interest in Singapore’s attractions. Some of these beautiful places have become even better over time, with more kid-friendly elements,” Ong says.

Each book comes with a reading level recommendation. Get a copy at $8.90 each at major bookstores and online on Shopee at

Animated smash hit Inside Out 2, which was released in cinemas in June, will stream on Disney+ from Sept 25.

In this sequel to Inside Out (2015) by Disney and Pixar, Riley Andersen, now 13, is navigating the turbulent waters of adolescence.

The onset of puberty is an opportunity to introduce new emotions as characters inside her head: Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment. These compete with the older ones, including Joy, Anger and Sadness.

They cause swings in Riley’s moods, affecting her relationships with her parents and her friends.

Beyond entertainment, the film helps you gain an understanding of the complex teenage brain.
