New playground at Gardens by the Bay

A free playground has opened at Gardens by the Bay’s new PropNex Family Zone, located within walking distance of Bayfront MRT station.

Have fun with your children climbing two play towers – built to look like the Gardens’ iconic Supertrees – and spiralling down the slide.

The 2,000 sq m playground also features a zip line, seesaw, swing and spacious sand play area.

Come by in the evening for a different experience from the daytime. The sandpit features creative light projections and the towers are illuminated with synchronised lights – said to be first-of-their-kind features for a playground in Singapore.

The play space is designed to be inclusive, allowing children of all ages and abilities to play and interact with one another.

An expanded community garden and improved event lawn are also part of the PropNex Family Zone, a collaboration involving Gardens by the Bay, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Families for Life Council, Community Chest and real estate agency PropNex.

Your kids may have heard of Beethoven and Mozart, but do they know how both became legends in the classical music world?

Animated series Jimmy And The Magic Key introduces children to famous composers in history from around the world. In each episode, Jimmy uses a magical piano to travel through time with his niece Lola and his sparrow Fuga to meet a new composer.

Four episodes from the 52-part series, produced by Imagic TV of Spain, are now available to watch for free on the website of arts centre Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. The remaining episodes will be released monthly until mid-2026.

Besides getting to know about Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, kids will also learn about other classical greats such as Georg Philipp Telemann and Franz Schubert, both child prodigies who bravely pursued their musical dreams.

Composer and musician Maria Theresia von Paradis defied the odds to achieve success in her field despite being blind.

There is also Maria Theresia von Paradis who, like Beethoven, overcame sensory disabilities to become a musician. She was blind and he was deaf.

The Esplanade received the series as a personal contribution from Mr Roger Parellada, chief executive of a global financial institution based in Singapore. Originally from Spain, Mr Parellada has lived in Singapore for more than 13 years.

He gifted Esplanade the rights to this series to nurture a love for classical music in children through its music outreach and education initiatives.
