Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree

Be among the first to enjoy a staycation at the Mandai Rainforest Resort by luxury hotel chain Banyan Tree when it opens on April 2.

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel has rolled out 51 luxury family suites. The smallest one spans 75 sq m and is bigger than a typical three-room HDB flat. It features a cosy children’s room with bunk beds, a Nintendo Switch console, Apple TV, board games and books. There is also a living room, a kitchenette and a terrace with views of Gardens by the Bay.

For extended families, the largest suite is an expansive 175 sq m, ensuring ample room for everyone.

Despite the starting price of $1,700 a night, the demand for the family suites remains high, with an average occupancy rate of 95 per cent in 2024, according to MBS senior vice-president and chief hospitality officer Tane Picken. 

The guest mix varies depending on the season, with a combination of overseas guests and Singaporean families choosing to stay in these luxurious accommodations, he says. For example, during Chinese New Year, they were mostly locals on staycation.

A stay in the family suites comes with a host of benefits, including free unlimited entry to MBS’ ticketed attractions, such as the ArtScience Museum, SkyPark Observation Deck and sampan rides at The Shoppes.

Plus, your kids enjoy exclusive access to The Play Den, a dedicated space for craft activities, and The Hideaway, where they can indulge in video games and movies. Both open from 10am to 8pm daily.

You can join in these activities with your children or entrust them to the care of the hotel’s engagement ambassadors.

To enhance your experience, a premium services team is on hand to assist you with requests, from making priority reservations at the hotel’s celebrity chef restaurants to ironing your clothes at The Pantry, a service area accessible exclusively to family suite guests.

If you have a baby or toddler, you will appreciate The Pantry, which is well stocked with babycare essentials such as diapers, bottle sterilisers and high chairs. You can also borrow a stroller or car seat.

Upon arrival, your children will receive merchandise, such as a backpack, water bottle and storybook, themed around the hotel’s mascot, Rori the Lion.

In time to come, young guests can look forward to swimming classes at the hotel’s world-famous infinity pool, says Mr Picken.

He adds that the hotel is redesigning the hospitality experience to meet a growing appetite for luxury family travel.

“Every brand across the world is giving the family segment a certain level of attention, it just depends on how much detail and commitment,” he says. “We are going to keep working on that even with our future developments.”
