SINGAPORE – Eight primary schools have filled at least half their total spots, according to results of the first phase of the 2025 Primary 1 registration exercise announced on July 9.

Phase 1, which is for children with older siblings already enrolled in the school, took place from July 1 to 3.

According to figures published on the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) website on July 9, the schools that have filled at least 50 per cent of their total vacancies are Angsana Primary School, Concord Primary School, Greenwood Primary School, Naval Base Primary School, Rulang Primary School, South View Primary School, Valour Primary School and Waterway Primary School.

This is double the number of schools compared with the same phase in the 2024 exercise, when four schools had reached the halfway mark in filling their spots.

Topping the list in 2025 was Valour Primary School in Punggol, which has filled about 53.8 per cent of its total vacancies.

It has 51 places left for the next phase, 2A, which is for children whose parent or sibling is a former pupil, or whose parent is a member of the school advisory or management committee, or whose parent is a staff member.

Children from the 56 MOE kindergartens under the primary school of their choice also qualify under Phase 2A.

MOE also announced on its website the number of places left for Phase 2A for 180 primary schools. These figures do not include the 60 reserved places for Phases 2B and 2C, set aside by MOE since 2022 to ensure schools remain accessible to as many children as possible.

Figures were not available for Kranji Primary, which will not admit Primary 1 pupils from 2024 to 2026 ahead of its planned move to Tengah in 2028.

Townsville Primary and Damai Primary will also stop Primary 1 admissions from 2025 to 2027, as they prepare to relocate to Sembawang and Tampines North respectively in 2029.

Popular schools like Rosyth School and CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School still have vacancies remaining for Phase 2A. Rosyth has 76 spots left for the second phase out of a total of 270, and St Nicholas has 86 out of 210.

Phase 2A starts at 9am on July 10, and ends at 4.30pm on July 11. Results of this phase will be out on July 18.
