SINGAPORE – From inviting migrant workers to a social studies class to journaling with a troubled student, these five teachers – winners and finalists of the Outstanding Youth in Education Award (OYEA) 2024 – have gone beyond the syllabus to engage their students.
The annual award from the Ministry of Education (MOE) recognises teachers aged 35 and below for their enthusiasm, energy and active involvement to help students develop to their full potential. There were 11 finalists, and six teachers emerged as winners – from a pool of 1,409 nominees from 238 schools – for the award which was handed out in July.
