Overturned truck causes massive jam on Tampines Expressway

SINGAPORE - A tipper truck overturned on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) on Monday (June 20) around the evening rush hour, causing delays on the expressway.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that no one was taken to the hospital due to the incident.

Three lanes were blocked on the TPE towards Changi Airport when the truck tipped over around 5pm.

Police said it was alerted to the incident before the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) exit at 5.05pm.

What looked like gravel was strewn all over the road. Many workers were seen clearing up the spill.

Police issued a warning of "massive congestion" at around 7pm on Facebook.

"Motorists are advised to avoid using the road and to use alternative routes, if possible," said the post on the official police Facebook page.

Police said investigations are ongoing.

Warnings of the traffic jam and photos of the accident were shared on social media.
