NTU unveils large-scale art installation to commemorate first batch of medical students

SINGAPORE - To commemorate its first batch of medical undergraduates admitted in August 2013, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) unveiled a large-scale ceramic and wood art installation on Thursday (Aug 11).

Called "Apollo's Dream", it comprises a 25m-long mural wall, floor artwork spanning 1.7m in diameter and hanging artwork that is 2.5m in diameter.

It is housed at the Experimental Medicine Building at the university.

The medical students contributed individual ceramic pieces to the installation. NTU said the pieces signify how the students see the role of medicine.

The undergraduates had studied pottery under Dr Suriani Suratman and Ms Hiroko Mita, two proteges of master potter Iskandar Jalil.
