SINGAPORE – A crocodile spotted near the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
NParks’ wildlife management and outreach director Cyrena Lin said on March 19 that NParks has not been able to locate the reptile since it was alerted to the sighting in the evening the day before.
The crocodile farm near the site of the original sighting was inspected, and its fences and enclosures were found to be in order, Ms Lin said. It was unclear if the crocodile came from the farm.
Business operators and farms in the vicinity have been advised to report any sighting of the animal to NParks, she added.
A Facebook user, who wanted to be known only as Mr Koo, first shared two photos of the crocodile in a post on the Singapore Wildlife Sightings page at about 6.40pm on March 18.
Speaking to The Straits Times shortly after uploading the photos, Mr Koo said he was driving in the area at about 1pm when he spotted the reptile on the road in Neo Tiew Crescent near Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm.
He said he thought the crocodile had come from the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.
NParks urged the public to remain calm and back away if they encounter a crocodile.
“They should not approach, provoke or feed the animal,” it warned.
