SINGAPORE - The Professional Engineers Board has elected a new president: Mr Ho Siong Hin, Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health at the Ministry of Manpower.

The Ministry of National Development on Monday announced the body's new 15-member board, which started its three-year term on Jan 1.

Board members include Ms Lee Bee Wah, group director of Meinhardt Singapore and Nee Soon GRC MP; and Mr Ong See Ho, deputy CEO of the Building and Construction Authority.

Mr Ho thanked the previous board headed by Mr Lau Joo Ming for their contributions, which include setting up a registration system for specialist engineers in amusement ride engineering.

Mr Ho, who is also MOM's divisional director of occupational safety and health, added that he is looking forward to working with stakeholders such as the universities, Institution of Engineers Singapore and the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore.

He added: "The board is committed to the advancement of the profession to support the needs of industries as well as working with the professional engineering community to meet diverse needs."
