SINGAPORE - Residents in Nee Soon East can now scale an outdoor rock wall or take cooking classes in a modern studio if they wish.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially opened the Nee Soon East Community Club on Saturday, after the club was closed for an 18-month upgrading programme.
Residents and students from surrounding schools had a hand in the club's new facilities - about 2,500 of them were surveyed in December 2011. For example, an all-weather basketball court with Wifi access is the fruit of one suggestion.
But the new club is not just fun and play: it has collaborated with Alexandra Health System and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital to roll out wellness programmes, especially for the numerous elderly in the area.
