SINGAPORE - A motorcyclist was taken unconscious to the hospital after an accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle along the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) on Dec 2.

When contacted, the police said they were alerted to the accident along the MCE towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway at 1pm.

It added that the motorcyclist was a 57-year-old man. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the man was taken to Singapore General Hospital.

The Land Transport Authority, in a post on social media platform X at 1.18pm on Dec 2, advised motorists to avoid the second to fifth lanes on the expressway after Maxwell Road exit.

Driver Esmond Khoo told The Straits Times that he was travelling from Ubi to Sentosa at 2.05pm when he witnessed the aftermath of the accident.

“When I entered the expressway and drove closer to the accident site, I saw a motorcycle lying on the second lane of the road and a lorry on the third lane of the road,” said the 31-year-old sales director, who added that the lorry had a huge dent on its right-turn signal indicator.

“It took me about 30 minutes before I got out of the jam. I hope the person who was injured did not suffer any major injury.”

Mr Khoo added that he saw a shoe lying on the road shoulder.

One user wrote on Facebook that she was stuck in the tunnel for nearly two hours due to the accident.

Police investigations are ongoing.
