SINGAPORE – A 28-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after an accident with a car on the AYE on Aug 28.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were informed of the accident on the AYE towards the MCE at about 1.10pm.

The man was taken conscious to National University Hospital.

In a video of the incident posted on Facebook, a motorcycle is seen lying on its side in the second lane from the expressway divider.

Two men are seen trying to lift the vehicle, while another person lies on the road, appearing to be convulsing and bleeding.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Traffic Police said in their

mid-year report that road traffic accidents

and casualties have been increasing over the past three years, with the number of people killed and injured in the first half of 2025 higher than in the same period a year ago.

From January to June 2025, there were 78 fatal accidents, up from 70 in the first half of 2024. Accidents resulting in injuries rose, from 3,437 to 3,740 over the same period.

The number of accidents involving motorcyclists climbed by 9.5 per cent to 2,088 in the first half of 2025, up from 1,907 during the same period in 2024.

Traffic Police said motorcyclists and pillion riders remain disproportionately affected in traffic fatalities.
