SINGAPORE - A motorcyclist was injured after colliding with a bus in Toa Payoh on Tuesday (March 21) morning.

The police told The Straits Times that they were alerted at 10.56am to the accident, which involved a bus and a motorcycle at the junction of Lorong 6 and Lorong 4.

The motorcyclist was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Photos sent to citizen journalism site Stomp show the man lying beside the bus, and at least three passers-by offering help.

Ms Tammy Tan, senior vice-president of corporate communications at SBS Transit, said in response to a Straits Times query: "Our CCTV footage reveals that our bus was travelling straight with the green light in its favour when a motorcyclist, who was travelling in the opposite direction, suddenly made a right turn and collided with our bus."

She added that the motorcyclist "is recuperating in the hospital and we remain in touch with him".

"We would also like to express our appreciation to a member of the public who came forward to graciously render his assistance during the incident," she said.

Correction note: An earlier version of the story said the motorcyclist was pinned under the bus. SBS Transit has clarified that he was not. We are sorry for the error.
