SINGAPORE – A 31-year-old man died in hospital on Oct 3, after his motorcycle was believed to have skidded near the Ubi area.
In response to queries, the police said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Bedok Reservoir and Jalan Eunos at about 8pm.
The motorcyclist was unconscious when he was taken to hospital, where he later died. He had been taken to Changi General Hospital, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Police investigations are ongoing.
When The Straits Times arrived at about 8.20pm, two ambulances and multiple police motorbikes were at the scene. A large crowd had gathered on both sides of the road.
At least eight paramedics were seen taking turns to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the victim.
The paramedics then put the victim on a stretcher before carrying him to an ambulance.
Based on the Traffic Police’s mid-year report
Motorcyclists and pillion riders – 43 – accounted for slightly over half of the 79 road deaths in the first half of the year, and they were involved in 54.7 per cent of all traffic accidents in the same period.
The top three causes for traffic accidents involving this group were a failure to keep a proper lookout, a failure to have proper control, and changing lanes without due care, the report said.
