SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating a workplace incident involving a toppled bore piling machine at a construction site along Tanjong Rhu Close.
Images circulating on social media on Sept 9 show the large machine lying on its side, with construction workers surrounding it.
In response to queries from The Straits Times, MOM said on Sept 10 that the incident occurred at about 9am on Sept 8.
“A bore piling machine toppled to its side while being positioned for work. No injuries were reported,” said the ministry.
MOM is investigating the incident and working with the occupier, BHCC Construction, on the safe recovery of the equipment.
“As a general safety measure, employers must ensure that the ground is level, stable and has sufficient bearing capacity before heavy equipment is positioned for work,” its statement said.
In the first half of 2025, there were 76 incidents of deaths and major injuries in the construction sector
Between April and June, MOM conducted 514 site inspections targeting machinery safety across the construction, manufacturing and marine sectors.
A total of 1,263 unsafe conditions were uncovered during these checks
