Ministry of Home Affairs deputy secretary receives national award from France

SINGAPORE - Mr T. Raja Kumar, Deputy Secretary (International) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), received the French National Order of Merit (Knight) Award on Wednesday (Oct 4).

It recognises his contributions in building and sustaining close security cooperation and bilateral relations between Singapore and France. The investiture ceremony was held at the residence of the French Ambassador Marc Abensour.

MHA said in a statement on Wednesday night that it has good working relations with the French Ministry of Interior and the French security agencies.

In April last year, MHA signed a three-year Strategic Cooperation Plan with the French Ministry of Interior, and the areas of cooperation covered border management, civil protection, counter terrorism, cybercrime, major events management, and thought leadership on homeland security.

Mr Raja Kumar said: "This award is testament to the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the French Ministry of Interior and MHA, and our respective security agencies, in our common fight against terrorism and transnational crime."
